Somalia Inclusion Action Alliance (SINAA)

A non-profit and impartial organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work alongside women, the youth, people with disabilities, minority groups and individuals living in situations of extreme hardship to support their social, economic and political participation. This will improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

With local partners, we run programs in social integration, economic integration, advancing gender equality and women’s rights.

We respond quickly and effectively to natural and civil disasters in order to limit serious and permanent injuries and to assist survivors' recovery and reintegration.

We advocate for the universal recognition of the rights of women, people with disabilities and minority groups through national planning and advocacy.

About us

Our Vision

We aspire to have a world of solidarity and inclusion, enriched by our differences, where everyone can live in dignity.

Our Mission

Taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to the essential needs, improve the living conditions and promote respect for the dignity and fundamental rights of women, people with disabilities, minority groups and individuals experiencing extreme hardship.

Services

With local partners, we run programs that respond to the essential needs, improve the living conditions and promote respect for the dignity and fundamental rights of women, people with disabilities and minority groups in Somalia. We currently run the following programs:

Gender Equality

Gender equality is at the very heart of human rights and United Nations values.

Gender-based discrimination is prohibited under almost every human rights treaty. Despite much progress made in securing women’s rights globally, millions of women and girls continue to experience discrimination and violence, being denied of their equality, dignity and autonomy, and even a life.

This discrimination and violence against women and girls, deeply rooted in the fabric of societies, is persistent and systematic. And in recent years, there has been a recurrence of scepticism against and denial of international standards concerning women’s human rights, gender equality and gender-based violence, while women and girls are increasingly raising voices to demand equality, including through feminist movements.

Youth empowerment

Youth empowerment is the process of involving the youth and the young population in the decision-making of a community. As the realization that the youth has a voice that a community should listen to; it also presents an avenue through which they can make their voices heard and recognize the power that they have.

Youth empowerment is characterized by efforts that help them be involved, whether in their education, community programs, and support services. We can also show youth empowerment by enhancing and strengthening their capabilities and role in the youth sector. There is this innate power within them that is capable of making this world a much better place, and through youth empowerment, we recognize this power and strengthen it more. We ignite the flame of their power towards the development of our society through youth empowerment.

Inclusion

In low and middle income countries, people with disabilities and minority groups are often denied access to education, training opportunities, loans for microenterprise development and formal employment in the private sector making it impossible for them to earn a living. This condemns people with disabilities and their families to a perpetuating cycle of poverty.

Disability rights

In many countries where we work, minority groups and people with disabilities face rampant discrimination, and are excluded from school, decent work, healthcare, and other services. As such, these members of the world’s largest minority are disproportionately exposed to extreme poverty and isolation, and sometimes also physical and sexual violence.

Global inclusive health

Access to health care is an essential step toward social inclusion. Whether through the prevention of disabling diseases, creating local health services or providing psychological support, all our actions serve one purpose: To ensure that every man, woman and child has the chance to stay healthy.

Rehabilitation

It takes patience, strength, and hard work to reclaim independence after an accident or illness. Our approach to rehabilitation is based on the recognition of individual needs, taking into account a person's individual situation, their environment and the local services available.

Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihoods

In a world where food security, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods are critical to human well-being and economic stability, SINAA is dedicated to be at the forefront of addressing the intertwined challenges of food insecurity, malnutrition, and livelihood instability in vulnerable communities. With a holistic approach that integrates emergency response, long-term development, and capacity-building initiatives, SINAA strives to create resilient societies where every individual has access to adequate nutrition and sustainable means of livelihood.

Environment and climate change

As the world grapples with the escalating challenges of environmental degradation and climate change, SINAA is deeply committed to addressing the pressing issues of environmental sustainability and climate resilience. Through a multifaceted approach that includes community engagement, education, and the implementation of sustainable practices, SINAA aims to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and promote environmental stewardship.

Education and Community Development

Education and community development stand as the cornerstone of sustainable progress and societal well-being. In this light, SINAA, a forward-thinking humanitarian and development organization, is deeply invested in fostering educational opportunities and empowering communities. Recognizing that education is a powerful tool for transformation, SINAA's initiatives aim to provide quality education, enhance literacy, and equip individuals with the skills necessary for socio-economic advancement. Alongside education, SINAA places a strong emphasis on community development, working collaboratively with local populations to build resilient, self-sufficient communities.

WASH

Access to clean water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene (WASH) is fundamental to human health and dignity. Recognizing the critical importance of these basic services, SINAA, has prioritized WASH initiatives to improve the quality of life in vulnerable communities. Through a combination of infrastructure development, educational programs, and community engagement, SINAA works tirelessly to ensure safe water access, promote effective sanitation practices, and enhance hygiene awareness.
